Every Sunday the ride starts at Oakwood School. Join for a 9 AM start. We go about 35 miles at about 17 mph. On Wednesday, May 26th at 6 PM, the Senator will join the usual Sprocket group ride starting at the shop. Ride out and show your support to improve bicycling in Wisconsin. We will ride our usual Wednesday route. See their web site for details.Badger State Games Cancels Cycling EventsAdded Sun, Apr 18, 2010 Following inquiries to the Wisconsin Sports Development Corporation (WSDC), the Oshkosh Cycling Club has learned that WSDC has canceled the cycling events in the 2010 Badger State Games -- the road race and time trials. May 22nd is coming soon!Greenbush Trail Work DaysAdded Fri, Apr 02, 2010 Greenbush trail work days will begin on Saturday, April 3rd and continue through the middle of May. The goal is to construct a connector trail between loops 1 and 2, to eliminate two-way traffic and to finish loop 4. We'll be meeting every Saturday morning at the lower parking lot and departing for the build site at 8:00am sharp. This ride is a great way to both get outside and ride as well as help area kids and families that are in need!Ripon Ride PlannedAdded Thu, Mar 11, 2010 From Ripon College: "Beginning Tuesday, March 23 cycling enthusiasts from throughout the area are invited to join the Red Hawks cycling team for a fitness-minded bicycle ride on rural roads surrounding Ripon. The ride distance and pace may vary depending on the composition of the group." "The group will meet at 5:30 p.m. each Tuesday at the main entrance to Ripon College at the intersection of Woodside Avenue and Seward Street. From the plan: "The Safe Routes to School program is an international program that encourages walking and biking to school." "The SRTS program focuses on teaching children bike and pedestrian safety along with healthy lifestyles. It encourages children to walk and bike to school and also looks to improve the air quality at and around schools, reduce the traffic congestion at and around school, increase the physical activity of children, increase community involvement, and have intergovernmental cooperation through a number of departments including planning, the police department, the school district, local units of government, and parents."Google Maps Has Bicycling DirectionsAdded Wed, Mar 10, 2010 Just recently Google Maps have added bicycling directions to their get directions feature. A quick couple experiments show that it's pretty good. Neat.Tri Night March 22ndAdded Sun, Feb 28, 2010 Oshkosh Cyclery and Fitness will be hosting the 2nd annual Tri Night on Monday, March 22nd, from 6pm to 9pm. Tim Petrie will be sharing his ideas and tips about the sport of Triathlons. The evening will cover: triathlon culture, training time needed, goals in the sport, longevity, equipment needed, clothing, what to expect at a race, what not to do, and great beginner races.If you have a couple of Tris under your belt or are just thinking about trying the sport, this meeting will be very informative and helpful. You will pick up some valuable training tips and some nutrition ideas. Last year Tim was suppose to be here for 2 hours but once the question session started it ended up lasting for 4 hours! Tim is so happy to help others improve. Tim Petrie lives for the sport of triathlons. Tim did his first Tri in 2001 and has done 125 races since and is as passionate about the sport as ever. Tim is currently a student at UW-Oshkosh studying to be a Physical Education teacher and truly values promoting lifelong fitness and health. Tim's schooling and experience as an athlete has taught him how powerful the mind and body can be working together. The sport of triathlon is great for both, and Tim looks forward to expressing his passion about triathlons and how you can be happy while training and racing for years to come.
